folk @ canowindra … 27th october

We’ve had an rich month of events & music in the region, and to top it off, Mike & Sophie McCarthy will return to feature at folk@canowindra this Sunday, October 27.  When Mike visited Canowindra from the central coast 2 years ago, audiences were blown away by his skill, passion & sheer musicality – and by how lucky we were to have him performing here (both at the folk club, and at St Eddies Primary School the next day).

Threading together the elements of dirt box blues with open-sea folk, McCarthy’s music is a wild, yet ever soulful, meditation on life. His musical path has taken him around Australia, Japan, The UK and USA.  McCarthy’s music has featured on films such as “Stoked & Broke”, “Seaworthy”, “Lines from a Poem” and “Alaska Sessions.”  Over the last ten years Mike has recorded six albums and a live EP, and supported many influential musicians such as Mia Dyson, Tex Perkins, Sarah Blasko and Jeff Lang. Mike is described by Gibson Guitars as “a unique songwriter who speaks from the soul.  He has the respect of his peers and is one of the hardest working local artists” (see to sample his music).

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear some amazing music, at taste Canowindra (Ferguson St) from 4-6:15pm.  Please bring a donation for Mike & Sophie.  There will also be an open mic for accoustic music and poetry – please contact Nerida Cuddy for enquiries 0429 048 603.
